The cylinder head is the "heart plate" of the engine, integrating critical components such as the combustion chamber, intake and exhaust passages, valve guide holes, spark plug mounting holes, and fuel injector mounting ports. It must withstand extreme conditions—experiencing temperatures as high as over 1000°C, pressures reaching up to 10–15 MPa in the combustion chamber, and frequent high-frequency vibrations. As a result, its dimensional accuracy, airflow efficiency, and sealing performance directly influence key engine metrics: power output (e.g., intake efficiency), fuel economy (e.g., combustion completeness), and reliability (e.g., preventing coolant leaks or oil blow-by). To address the cylinder head's unique characteristics—its "complex structure, stringent precision requirements, and harsh operating conditions"—special inspection tools are employed to enable comprehensive, multi-dimensional quality control, ensuring that the component meets both engine manufacturing standards and overall performance benchmarks.

1. Component Factory Outgoing Inspection: During mass production of cylinder heads, this process includes first-article inspection (to verify compliance with dimensions, sealing performance, and air passage flowability) and batch sampling inspections (with a sampling rate of 8%-12% per batch). It ensures that any defective parts—such as those with out-of-tolerance bore positions, poor sealing, or deformed air passages—are promptly identified and removed, guaranteeing that the cylinder heads delivered to the engine manufacturer meet performance standards and helping to reduce the rate of incoming material rejections. 


2. Incoming Material Inspection at the Engine Plant and Final Assembly Testing: When receiving cylinder heads, the engine plant uses inspection tools to quickly verify critical parameters—such as the flatness of the cylinder head base surface and the dimensions of the valve guide holes—to promptly identify any deformation caused by collisions during transportation. In the final assembly stage, pre-assembly checks are conducted to fine-tune the alignment of the cylinder head with the cylinder block and the valve components, preventing rework due to improper fit (e.g., re-grinding the valve seat) and ultimately reducing both assembly costs and engine failure rates. 


3. Validation during the R&D phase: During the development of the new engine, this process involves testing the air passage optimization performance of the cylinder head prototype, assessing how combustion chamber volume affects compression ratio, and evaluating sealing stability under high-temperature conditions—tasks that help refine and optimize the cylinder head’s structural design.
