BYD EQEA Side Panel Welding Jig Project
I. Product Overview
This side-body welding jig, specifically designed for BYD’s EQEA project, is a critical piece of specialized tooling essential to BYD’s 2024 vehicle production. In the car body welding process, it plays a key role in securely holding and precisely positioning side-body components—such as the outer side panels and reinforcing parts—making it a core device that ensures welding accuracy. Ultimately, this innovation helps BYD efficiently produce high-quality EQEA models.

II. Design Highlights
(1) Efficient Clamping Mechanism
The system employs a fast-responding pneumatic clamping mechanism (as shown in Figure 1), allowing operators to quickly and securely clamp the side-body components in no time with just a simple operation. This highly efficient clamping method not only significantly reduces setup time, boosting production efficiency, but also ensures that the components remain perfectly aligned during welding, thereby maintaining consistent weld quality. Additionally, the clamping force can be flexibly adjusted according to the specific requirements of different parts, preventing damage to component surfaces caused by excessive pressure or ensuring precise welding outcomes when clamping forces are insufficient.
(2) Flexible Design
Considering BYD's potential future model upgrades and minor variations in side-body components, this fixture has been designed with flexibility in mind (as shown in Figure 2). Key positioning and clamping components can be quickly replaced or adjusted, enabling the fixture to accommodate the welding of multiple side-body parts with similar structures—without requiring extensive modifications. This approach helps BYD reduce costs associated with later-stage tooling changes while enhancing production flexibility and adaptability.
III. Manufacturing Processes and Quality Control
During the manufacturing process, high-strength, highly wear-resistant premium-grade steel is selected as the primary material for the frame. Through precision machining and rigorous heat treatment processes, the fixture is ensured to exhibit exceptional resistance to deformation and lasting stability. After each component is finished, it undergoes multiple stringent quality inspection steps—such as dimensional accuracy checks and surface quality assessments. Once assembly is complete, the entire fixture undergoes comprehensive debugging and simulated welding tests to verify that all performance metrics meet the highest standards before being delivered for use by BYD (as shown in Figure 3).
IV. Delivery and After-Sales Services
Delivery Timeline: We maintain strict control over production schedules, ensuring that from project initiation to delivery, the process is completed within approximately 45 days. This allows us to promptly provide the side-body welding fixtures required for the production line, as per BYD’s project plan, without delaying overall manufacturing progress.
After-sales Service: We have a dedicated technical service team that, following the delivery of the fixtures, provides comprehensive on-site installation guidance and operational training to ensure BYD operators can confidently use the equipment. Additionally, we offer long-term after-sales maintenance support, including regular follow-up visits to promptly address and resolve any issues that may arise during fixture usage, thereby ensuring BYD’s production remains smooth and uninterrupted.
